Fire safety knowledge built through real experience
Firebugged was founded by Paul Williams following a career spanning more than 26 years in the fire industry. Paul began his career in operational fire and rescue environments, building a practical understanding of fire behaviour, emergency response and the consequences of inadequate fire precautions.
He later spent six years working as an auditing officer in fire safety. This developed his technical knowledge of compliance, inspections and the duties placed upon those responsible for commercial, public-sector and residential premises.
Since March 2022, Paul has been fully dedicated to conducting fire risk assessments. Firebugged was established to provide organisations with professional inspections, clear reports and practical advice grounded in genuine industry experience.
“The aim is to remove uncertainty and give clients a clear understanding of the risks within their premises and what needs to happen next.”

Fire safety advice you can understand and act upon
Firebugged’s work is built around accuracy, clarity and recommendations that reflect the actual level of risk.
Thorough inspection
The assessment considers the building, how it is used, who may be at risk and the precautions already in place.
Clear reporting
Findings are written in plain language with supporting detail and photographic evidence where appropriate.
Proportionate advice
Recommendations are based on the risks identified and prioritised to help you address the most important matters first.
Direct communication
You deal directly with the assessor rather than passing questions through a call centre or sales department.
Evidence-led findings
Advice is based on what is observed at the premises and the circumstances affecting the people who use it.
Ongoing clarity
If anything in the report needs clarification, you can speak directly with Paul about the findings.
Experience across different types of property
Firebugged provides assessments for a wide range of commercial, residential and public-sector premises across South Wales.
Competence matters in fire risk assessment
A fire risk assessment should be suitable and sufficient for the premises being examined. The assessor therefore needs the knowledge and experience required to identify hazards, evaluate precautions and provide proportionate recommendations.
Paul’s Level 4 qualification, operational background and fire safety auditing experience provide the foundation for Firebugged’s assessment work.
